A Fashionable Lady
with the Terrene Face

The name Terrene was listed in the Paris business directory from 1863 to 1890, and was located at 10 Rue du Marche-St. Honore. Terrene is actually the name of a doll boutique not a manufacturer, but collectors refer to this exquisite face style as the "Terrene face". However, this exquisite doll comes from another prestigious establishment "Aux Reves de L' Enfance" and her wonderful body bears a Paris label attesting to that fact.
Featuring a lovely and perfect bisque swivel head, gorgeous blue paperweight eyes, delicately feathered brows, her original honey blond mohair wig still styled in soft curls and worn down in the back, and pierced ears, she measures fifteen inches tall.
Construction of the articulated body is quite unique, featuring kid over wood components, with articulation at the hips and knees – the painted metal arms feature moving joints at the shoulder and elbows. An unusual aspect of the body is the appearance of bisque hands (repair to pinkie on right), as we typically see full lower bisque arms on this type of body.
Mlle. Terrene wears a spectacular original gown of cream gauze with delicate ruching, pleating and overall exquisite lines. Over scale camel satin bows decorate the entire dress, while a chapeau of camel flannel with floral decoration blends beautifully with the ensemble.
An exquisite fashion example for the advanced collector.

Most likely a product of the François Gaultier firm, this wonderful, sixteen inch, all-original fashion example features a perfect bisque head, pretty blue glass eyes, pierced ears and her original wig. On a gusseted leather body in very good condition (rust stains to individually wired fingers) she wears her original regional costume, which consists of various textures and patterns, including exquisite paisley. It is her amazing headdress that we love most, but note she also wears her original cotton stockings and leather slippers upon her feet! A charmer – and a true rarity.

François Gaultier

"Dreamy"....is the perfect word to describe this exceedingly beautiful twenty-inch François Gaultier fashion. It must be the dramatic feature of her bulging spiral-threaded paperweight eyes framed by rich, deep brows which casts a hypnotic spell on the viewer – that, combined with gorgeous, perfect bisque, a simple elegant hairstyle and a stylish presentation!
Mlle. Gaultier retains her original kid body in very good condition (save for minor scattered patching), and she wears a classic promenade ensemble in dusty lavender silk, which is decorated with lace, classic bows and ruched self-trim, edged in a deeper shade. Layers of antique under things and a very smart woven chapeau complete her over the top look!

This darling Blampoix child will bring your doll scenes to life, with help from her charming persona, which includes a perfect bisque swivel head and shoulderplate, early spiral-threaded cobalt eyes, pierced-through ears and a cute curly skin wig in a pleasing light brown shade.
Her sturdy kid body is in very good condition, showing just normal wear and foxing.
Mademoiselle wears a sweet cream and purple a-line dress with black braid adding definition, plus a black silk velvet cloak which is decorated in black ball fringe, braid and faceted jet bead decoration. EUGENE BARROIS

Have you ever seen a more stylish Equestrienne? We didn't think so.
This Eugene Barrois example, who stands fourteen and one-quarter inches tall (without her hat, or horse) could not be more lovely with her perfect bisque head and shoulderplate, truly gorgeous painting, spiral-threaded cobalt eyes, pierced-through ears and a shock of rich auburn mohair which is stitched to the original wig cap and cork pate.
The deluxe model kid body, which is in excellent clean condition, features articulation at the shoulders and elbows, and is fitted with nicely modeled bisque forearms (excellent repair to fingers on the left hand).
Soft gray wool flannel forms the basis of her riding habit, with silk velvet accents at the cuffs and collar, all worn over a starched shirtfront – with black buttons punctuating the top. Burgundy silk ribbon accents her cuffs, throat and velvet top hat with its streamers and black tulle veil.

If you display your dolls in vignettes, remember, a horse will be on the wish list of this exceedingly charming young horse woman.

Standing overall: 16 1/2" to top of hat.

Wearing an original enfantine presentation the most pampered French Huret would envy, we are thrilled to offer this sixteen and one-half inch "German Huret". Circa 1860, this bisque shoulderhead child with beautifully painted blue eyes, was certainly inspired by the work of the world-renowned (even at the time) Huret sisters.
Details include a solid dome head with delicate eye and facial painting, a hint of blond painted hair, over which she wears her original curly mohair wig, exquisitely modeled ears – all on a gusseted leather body which is fitted with gorgeous china arms.
Her presentation is anchored by a lovely, beautifully styled, two-piece ensemble of raw silk that includes a full skirt and figaro jacket, which is worn over a white gauze blouse-front with gilt brass button "closure". Further accents include tape trim upon the skirt and binding the jacket edges, along with it being used with a gilt brass buckle to create a sash at her waistline. Original under things, a fantastic floral decorated straw hat and leather heeled boots complete the classic presentation of this rare, and just too adorable German child.
