MAISON JUMEAU

Classic beauty defines this elegant, seventeen-inch fashion lady, who is blessed with an unusual sensitive face – a combination of classic Jumeau, blended with the classic Simonne face that we attribute to Jumeau. Fine details include a perfect bisque head and shoulderplate with exceptional painting, blue paperweight eyes in even eyecuts with abundant mauve shadow (usually found only on Portrait Jumeau models), pierced-through ears, and a lovely original strawberry blonde human hair wig in a classic style.
The desirable articulated body features components (including the torso, upper arms and upper legs) of kid over wood, with stuffed kid lower legs, and beautifully modeled, perfect bisque arms. Although showing some wear and staining, the body does retain the remnant of a green boutique stamp, that is identifiable as most likely belonging to Maison Simonne.

The antique dress of tan linen is beautifully tailored, and appears to be an original one, with its clean lines and fine details. A delicate antique straw chapeau is the perfect accompaniment to this creation, keeping the palette a monochromatic one.
A classic fashionable lady any discriminating collector should be proud to call their own.

Majestic at twenty-five inches tall, this François Gaultier fashion lady will instantly rule the doll room.  Featuring a perfect head and shoulder plate, this example’s bisque is truly amazing – it glows.  Lending even more personality are her expressive spiral threaded eyes in a pleasing shade of pale blue/gray, and her original wig is full and beautifully styled.  The classic leather body is strong, clean, and bears only very minor patching.
This fashion lady appears to be smiling; just maybe her smile is there because of the wonderful dress she is wearing!  The palette is a riot of color with brilliant emerald green fringe bordering the rose-embroidered black silk velvet ribbon, which defines the dress’s lines. A headdress and colorful bead jewelry tie it all together – beautifully.

Eugene Barrois

Good things do come in petite packages – we have the proof right here! This darling Eugene Barrois stands fourteen and three-quarter inches, boasts a perfect bisque head and shoulderplate, unusual paperweight eyes in pale gray, pierced ears and a cute curly lamb wig.
A very special feature is her wonderful body which displays a stuffed torso, plus articulation in kid over wood lower legs and upper arms that end in bisque arms (repairs to both).
Costumed as a young lady, she wears a marvelous dress in silk gauze with pinstripes of French blue and black, with black passementerie trim defining the lines. The sprig of forget-me-nots in her hair picks up not only the blue of the dress, but the strand of beads worn around her neck.
Antique slippers in soft blue leather complete the presentation of this very fortunate child.

LOUIS DOLEAC

Fashion dolls from the Louis Doleac firm are difficult to come by, so imagine our delight when we discovered this extremely beautiful and quite rare painted-eyed model! One might think the expressive quality of the painted eyes would be diminished, as opposed to paperweight eyes – not the case here. The expression exuded in this case is pure serenity.
Standing seventeen and one-half inches in height, details (aside from the dreamy eyes) include a perfect bisque head and shoulder plate with fabulous painting overall, and an exceptional dark blonde mohair wig styled in a myriad of curls – a perfect match to her brow color.
On a standard kid leather body in good condition showing normal wear with scattered patching, it is her classic ensemble which is the triumph! She wears a beautifully constructed ballgown in rich deep burgundy, with cream silk details – plus little hints of burgundy silk velvet at the hemline. One of our own fashion dolls, (an L.D. in fact) wears a nearly identical gown, although in blue, so we find it remarkable that another version in a different color exists.
In the case of this hypnotic doll, the "L" in L.D. must stand for sheer...el-egance.
