J. D. Kestner

We have never seen a Kestner baby that we did not love, and did you know that now is a wonderful time to buy them, as they are quite affordable? This darling fellow, who is just under thirteen-inches long, is certainly no exception.
Details include a perfect bisque solid dome head with molded and painted hair, blue sleep eyes (wax is worn,) an open mouth with two lower teeth visible, all on the proper bent-limb baby body with the original paint finish showing normal wear.
A sweet white cotton baby dress with insertion and lace, along with a delightful bonnet add even more value to this already fairly priced antique doll.

Kley & Hahn 141

Twenty inches of classic character doll beauty is this Kley & Hahn 141-7. Fine details of this painted-eye beauty include a perfect bisque head with lovely tone, super modeling and fine painting of the facial features including the open/closed mouth with its tongue tip. The human hair wig is worth special mention as it is a wonderful color and beautifully styled in twin braids.
On a jointed composition body with the original paint finish in very good condition, she is beautifully costumed in classic mariner style
attire that is comprised of a sailor dress and tam in lightweight denim with red trimmings – very smart!
Antique shoes and stockings complete the look, which we believe is magnificent.

With simply an incised “2” on the back of his German bisque socket head, this very unusual character doll features deep blue intaglio eyes, fat rosy cheeks, a very nice auburn mohair wig and a somewhat pouty expression. On a ball-jointed composition body, he wears a fabulous, what we like to call “Nephew Sam” costume of stars and stripes, complete with tails, bow tie, pleated shirt, top hat and red leather shoes! Measuring 17” tall, this grand “old fellow” possesses much detail and sparkle...besides, he is quite a rarity!

J. D. Kestner

29-1/2" J. D. Kestner child with a sweet, character-like expression, due to the "square teeth" in her open mouth. Fine features include a perfect bisque socket head on a perfect bisque shoulderplate, lovely and extra-sensitive blue glass sleep-eyes, and a rich cocoa brown antique human hair wig.
On a sturdy leather body with hinged and gusseted joints, the lower arms are of nicely modeled bisque, but there is a noticeable, however clean re-glue to the right.
The original white cotton dress is amazing for its style and design – tucks, lace and insertions all help create a softly stunning silhouette.
Antique leather slippers complete the lovely presentation of this classic German child.
