Wake up sleepy head! What an impressive German character this Bruno Schmidt 2042 is – the modeling is just incredible, including a very pronounced double chin, and the coloring – adorable. Standing just under twenty-one inches tall, this child bears perfect bisque, beautifully painted pale blue eyes, and an open/closed mouth. This doll actually has a solid dome head with painted hair, and somewhere down the line a very artistic collector placed a lovely mohair wig on the head, creating a wonderful look! |

Let's face it, a comprehensive antique doll collection is simply incomplete without a Hilda from the J.D. Kestner firm. This Hilda in particular is the perfect choice – if not for the manageable size at fourteen and one-half inches long, then for her amazing originality. |

We have always been particularly fond of this classic Kestner Baby mold – the 211, as a life-sized example was one of the first dolls in our own collection. Details of this twelve and one-half inch example include a perfect bisque socket head with very nice painting, an open/closed mouth, blue glass sleep-eyes, and the original skin wig which is a perfect match to the auburn brow color. The Kestner bent limb baby body has seen repair to fingers on the right hand, and a repaint, with an authentic shade however, to the entire surface.
