Several German firms created their own versions of the popular "Gibson Girl". This pretty one, beautifully costumed as a bride, is from J.D. Kestner who created more than one "Girl". This mold number – 162, is a size 6.
Standing sixteen-inches overall, details include a perfect bisque socket head with blue glass sleep-eyes which are also complete with very full fur upper lashes, a beautifully shaped open mouth with glass teeth and a fantastic original blonde mohair wig retaining its namesake style.
On a seldom-seen, jointed-composition, lady body with a shapely torso, this one bears an original finish, complete with a stamp. There are repairs to three fingers on the right hand, otherwise the condition is excellent.
This young lady's bridal gown, which appears to be original, is a stunning creation in cream satin which is overlaid with embroidered tulle upon the skirt. It also features applique and more tulle upon the bodice. Creamy lily of the valley composes her bouquet, and also makes an appearance in her hairstyle, keeping her long tulle veil in place.
An elegant silhouette for her special day.

10-1/2" Armand Marseille 390, in all original presentation. Details include a perfect bisque socket head with brown sleep eyes and the original wig, on a carton and composition body. This lad has a wonderful face – one we never tire of seeing – a classic mold from the Gebrüder Heubach firm. This extra-special shoulderhead model stands twenty-one inches tall, bears lovely, sensitive, blue-painted intaglio eyes that appear to be side-glancing, beautifully painted and twice-shaded lips and blond painted hair. Markings upon his shoulderhead include 7 and Germany and an illegible four-digit mold number.
His oilcloth body is in very good condition, including the lower bisque arms, and he wears a flattering mariner ensemble of tan and cream wool, complete with a matching tam, while antique shoes complete his ensemble.
We've heard – "everybody loves a sailor!"

It is easy to see why this extraordinary German bisque character Gibson Girl is a first place, blue ribbon winner! Once a part of the legendary collection of Gladyse Hilsdorf, this unique example is marked “S&H DEP 13 1199”. At thirty-four inches tall, this statuesque beauty features lovely coloring, beautiful brown glass eyes, an open mouth with teeth, pierced ears and her spectacular, original, Gibson girl-style mohair wig. On a jointed composition body (marked La Patricienne) with extremely graceful hands and the rare feature of a generous bosom, she wears an exquisite promenade ensemble of sea-foam green wool, trimmed in fine ecru lace. Her stylish antique chapeau is trimmed in organdy flounces and silk florets, and she also wears antique lace-trimmed under clothing and chocolate brown high button leather boots. Her pink marabou boa adds the final, dramatic touch.

J.D. Kestner

We would not have to look at the impressed markings to know this fine Baby is a Kestner – as the exceptional quality of the bisque and painting tells us. Marked upon the head J.D.K. 10 Made in Germany, this twelve and one-half inch long solid-dome model boasts perfect bisque, brown glass sleep-eyes, an open mouth with two lower teeth, plus molded and brush-stroked hair.
This baby's classic Kestner bent-limb composition body retains the original paint finish, showing normal wear with crazing upon the arms. The crisp white cotton baby gown with eyelet edging is adorable – perfectly fitting for such a sweet infant, and a crocheted cap protects his delicate little head.

Armand Marseille 370

Finding an all-original doll is like uncovering buried treasure, and this remarkable Armand Marseille 370 is certainly no exception. Nearly eighteen inches tall overall, this shoulderhead model on a leatherette body is truly a miracle to have survived in this condition – well, consider the costume and the miracle is more easily believed!
Further details include very nice bisque, brown glass sleep-eyes with a full set of lashes and a detailed nun's habit in pristine condition.

Lift the lid on this simple pine band box and what you will find inside is an extremely sweet surprise! If the cute little (at seven inches tall) Simon & Halbig child isn't sweet enough, consider her extras and maybe you can be convinced.
Details include a perfect bisque head with an illegible mold number, but we would say due to her look, a 700 series. In addition, she has a closed mouth, brown sleep eyes, a pretty original mohair wig, an extremely tiny, jointed, wood and composition body (flaking, and repair to fingers on left hand), and a winning personality.
She wears a cute peach gauze and lace dress, and with the extra dresses and hats, there is a nice display in the making.
She would love furniture and accessories, too – and because of her small size, that request should be a cinch!
