J.D. Kestner

Something tells us this pretty Kestner Turned-shoulderhead Child has not changed all that much since the morning, long ago, that she was found under the Christmas tree.
An original doll is a miracle, and we are very happy to offer this one. Part of Kestner's Alphabet Series, this twenty-five and one-half inch tall closed-mouth doll is impressed O on the back of her perfect shoulderhead. In addition, she has gorgeous bisque quality with very deep modeling and fine painting, brown glass sleep-eyes and a very desirable, full, blonde mohair wig.
On a gusseted leather body with perfect bisque lower arms, she wears a truly beautiful presentation. We wish we had a hundred yards of the cheerful net with its pink printed blossoms. The net was cleverly laid over cream slipper satin, to create a shimmering effect, and the lines are classic Kate Greenaway. Finishing touches include pink satin ribbons upon the bodice, a fabulous cream silk faille and velvet bonnet, and antique leather shoes.
Enchanting as ever this Kestner child, well over a century later.

If one traveled in a time machine back to the year 1900, this doll is likely what could be found in toy stores. We don't mean just this variety – a S & H/K * R dolly-face doll, we mean a doll exactly like this, because this doll is pretty to close to factory original.
Standing seventeen inches tall, she boasts a perfect bisque head with blue glass sleep-eyes, a gorgeous full mohair wig, which has never been removed, an open mouth with teeth, and pierced ears with antique earrings. As would be expected, her jointed composition body is in miraculous condition, and she wears a darling white work dress with pale blue ribbon details. It is a shame to hide her underclothing because it is so beautiful!
It's never to late to start your collection over again – and what a place to begin!
