A Paper Memento Like No Other...

Who was the lucky recipient of such a lovely paper gift?
That, we shall never know. Composed of sixteen "pages" strung together with wide green silk ribbon, the sublime, hand-drawn and painted images evoke feelings of love, beauty, sentiment, and respect for the talented creator.
An ode to Byron perhaps? Some of his works are penned on the reverse of the pages. Additional poets' works grace other pages...all written in a lovely hand.
This early nineteenth-century memento is comprised of all that John Noble held dear...flowers, fruit, butterflies,
seashells...insects...loveliness.
The work measures: 4-1/2 by 5 inches.

18th Century
Wax Dollhouse Men

Dollhouse Gardeners actually, as John discovered eventually. In an article entitled "Sowing Seeds of Discovery" for DOLLS magazine, he identified these two eighteenth-century, German wax dollhouse men as gardeners due to the style of their clothing. He compared these elegantly clothed dolls to a circa 1750 painting that illustrated gardeners of that period attending to the lawn and voila' a match. The two wear original, matching, long linen coats with wide brimmed hats, all with silk ribbon detail.
The men measure nine inches tall.
