The Queen of Heaven

John wrote about The Queen of Heaven in article entitled
"From Rags to Riches-An Adventure in Conservation".
In the article, John related this mid-eighteenth-century Virgin was once part of the Samuel Pryor Collection, which was at one time housed in Greenwich, Connecticut. Found by Mr. Pryor in a dusty Mexico City junkshop, he dubbed the religious figure "Madonna of the Bullfighters" when he mistook what she was standing upon for the horns of a bull.
In his article, John went on to detail how he acquired the Virgin and the tale of her restoration...he also cleared up her "misnomer". What Mr. Pryor assumed were
the horns of a bull, actually represent a crescent moon, and the swirling silver base, what Mr. Pryor assumed was fur upon the bull's head, represents the vortex of Chaos. What was missing from the Virgin was a golden orb upon which she would have been placed. John replaced the orb, which represents the Universe and with that...once again...
The Queen of Heaven reigns supreme.
