Father Christmas is laden not only with a decorated tree – he carries toys which include bisque and papier-mache dolls, a group of exquisite German wooden soldiers, a brass horn, a magnificent drum and bundles of garland to "deck the halls" with! Looking like he could set sail in his giant slipper, this petite Polichinelle is trying to fill the giant shoes of his legendary namesake!
Young Polichinelle, a blond parian complete with his original costume and requisite double humps, is sewn in place inside his tapestry and velvet, satin-lined shoe, which most likely acted as a candy container.
Today, he and his shoe would look right at home nestled in the fragrant branches of your Christmas tree.

Marvelous Rabbit School Boy candy container This handsome lad "wears" a molded school uniform, complete with a cap and back pack! His overall condition appears to be excellent – although there is a possible, very well executed repair to his right ear tip. Ok, someone please educate us! We are intrigued with this Silverware Set, circa 1880s, which is housed in a fitted, satin-lined case in the shape of a baby in bunting. Perhaps a baby gift for the new arrival?
The silverware itself is .800 fine silver, with gilded accents, and the pretty bisque doll head is German and most likely a Kestner.
Whatever the case – this Victorian whimsy is a rare and wonderful piece!

We have seen these French Shoe Candy Containers before, but typically the silk bag is in sad shape. We were very happy to find this one in near-mint condition!
Details include a leather bebe shoe base – an Alart in size 10 – and a silk drawstring top with just one tender area.
This will be fabulous used as a Christmas tree ornament – and a perfect gift for the doll collector!
