This lavish, enclosed bed was designed to retain heat and is known as a “tester bed” (the solid roof is the “tester.”) Here we have a wonderful example sized for a larger scale dollhouse or a doll vignette. This piece is expertly crafted of solid wood and draped in silk jacquard and trimmed in silky fringe in a rich cerise red hue. Further details include a plump mattress adorned with an ornate, embroidered crest. In nice antique condition, save for scattered wear / discoloration and one detached curtain panel at right front corner of bed. Great displayed in an 18th century dwelling.
