Lovely 18th Century Wax Creche Figure
Lovely 18th Century Wax Creche Figure
We are pleased to offer an incredible 18th-century wax creche figure. Details include beautifully molded features with a sweetly serene expression, plus wax lower arms and legs with bare feet (right hand missing several fingers.) Her original costume is comprised of layers of embroidered silk taffeta, brocade and lace and she wears a headdress of ecru lace and fringed gold paper. A cluster of spun glass beads is worn at her wrist and a layered strand of white beads is worn around her neck. She carries a wax child in her arms, also beautifully costumed in a red silk gown trimmed in gold (child missing right arm.) Both figures remain in good condition save normal, age-related wear and darkening of wax.
