We are delighted to offer an English poured wax child, attributed to Montanari, with a wonderful, wide-eyed, wistful expression. Features include large, pale blue glass eyes with finely molded eyelids, arched dark blonde brows, and delicate coloring in her cheeks and lips. Her face is framed by a halo of rooted blonde mohair and topped with a bonnet of cream silk faille trimmed with cream lace and silk satin ribbon. On a cloth body with wax limbs, including bare feet, she wears a classic princess line dress rendered in cream wool challis with a lavish sacque back, ruched bodice and lavishly full peasant sleeves.
She is on a cloth body with grommeted poured wax arms and legs, her body is in nice condition save for minor overall age-related discoloration and a crack as well as a repair to front of left leg at knee. Underneath, she wears a full cotton slip and pantalettes.
