Civil War-era Boy Doll, Circa 1860s

$165.00

The pattern for this hand-knitted doll was likely found in a lady’s journal and was a popular item at sanitary fairs of the time period. His costume, rendered in a variety of stitches, features a tailed, blue coat, tan britches and black boots over red and white striped stockings. His needle sculpted face features nicely stitched features and black beaded eyes, while his head is topped with a wig of yellow yarn (area of separation to left cheek and scattered damage to face.) His body remains in very nice condition, save for an area of discoloration to rear, right shoulder. Despite his issues, there is still a lot of life left in this handsome young man.
Measures: 15 ½” tall
