German Wooden from the Grodner Tal - Circa 1820's
This German wooden from the Grodner Tal, Circa 1820's, has a charming presence and would fit right into a fine collection of early dolls. She boasts a carved and painted, simplified, apollo’s knot hairstyle in black and embellished with silk ribbon and fabric. Her face features beautiful painting with blue-grey eyes, pink tinted cheeks and a tiny pink hued mouth. Her head and shoulders remian in good condition with normal, age related wear and surface crazing.
She is on a jointed wooden body with slender, painted wooden arms (left hand presents paint loss) and slender legs that terminate in orange-red slippers. Her period accurate gown is rendered in antique floral printed fabric with leg of mutton sleeves and a delicately pleated bodice adorned with blue silk ribbon.
