Printed African American "Pickaninny" Doll by Arnold Print Works

$165.00

This charming African American child, entitled "Pickaninny" by Arnold Printworks and rendered in printed cloth, is a nice example of “by the yard” toys popular in the late 1800’s - early 1900’s. This little one features an expressive face with a head of curly brown hair and chews on a chubby finger. A pink gown is worn and a frilly hat is held in baby’s hand. The doll remains in very nice condition, firmly stuffed and machine sewing has held up well and a sewn-in carton base allows baby to stand (for the most part) on their own. Base printed: Pat. July 5.92, 2nd. Oct. 4.92
Measures: 15 1/2“ tall
