Wonderful Greiner Girl
Wonderful Greiner Girl
This substantially sized American made Greiner girl has a wonderful patina and charm to spare. Features include expressive, blue-painted eyes with hooded eyelids, coral shading and nicely arched brows, lips with the remnants of a vivid, old-fashioned red hue and exposed earlobes. Her molded and painted-blonde hairstyle is swept back in full, face framing waves. The shoulderhead presents a beautiful patina along with typical, scattered age-related surface wear including rubs to nose and upper lip.
Her firmly stuffed cotton body features nicely detailed papier-mâché hands (wear to hands and areas of mending to both lower arms, particularly to right arm) and legs with hinge sewn knees and upper thighs.
She wears a classic costume featuring an open back pinafore style dress in colorful plaid, over which she wears an apron in cream cotton with a red sprigged print and ties at the shoulders. Underneath, she wears a slip of crisp cotton and pantalettes trimmed in crocheted lace. Black oilcloth boots complete her presentation.
Label on back edge of shoulderhead reads: Greiner’s Patent Doll Heads, No. 8 Pat. Mar. 30 ‘58 Ext. ‘72
