Early African American Cloth Doll

$110.00

Details of this charming one-of-a-kind black cloth doll include construction from black cotton sateen, sweetly stitched features that include golden brown eyes, smiling red lips and a nose provided by simple needle sculpting. (Small hole to upper left side of nose.)
This dapper young man wears a nicely tailored two-piece nautical style costume rendered in indigo blue wool, over a red cotton shirt with an anchor pattern and a sailor collar. A tweed cap is worn over his black woolen hair (losses to wool throughout costume). Sewn-on ochre cotton stockings are worn under brown leather boots.
Measures: 15” tall
