“Queen of the World” Church Figure
This incredible piece, likely made by Italian reliquary artisans, would be a commanding figure for display in any room in your home. Features include a finely molded and painted face with inset brown glass eyes, carved wavy brown hair and pierced ears. Her wooden body is finished in a vivid periwinkle blue and a belt with antique gold bullion tassels hangs at her waist. Her lower arms are mounted on a wire armature and terminate in nicely modeled hands, while her finely modeled feet are clad in sandals and planted on a globe finished in a brilliant, metallic blue. The globe is adorned with a crescent moon and encircled by a friendly looking serpent with nicely detailed features including inset glass eyes and an open mouth with teeth. The base features a faux marble finish and a black lacquered lower edge. The central figure of this piece could be costumed with antique materials or left as is. In wonderful antique condition, save for normal age-related wear throughout.
