Jumeau French Fashion in Breton Regional Dress
Jumeau French Fashion in Breton Regional Dress
We don't know about you, but we would love to stumble upon a touristy souvenir shop that still offered shelves of dolls like the one shown here! Most likely, this example originally retailed at just such a shop. A product of the Jumeau firm, this pretty model features a perfect bisque head, big blue paperweight eyes, pierced ears with the original faceted pink glass earrings, and the original auburn wig over a cork pate and topped with a delightful cap.
On a gusseted leather body in very good condition (rust stains to several individually wired fingers) she wears her original regional costume which consists of a two-piece black wool costume accented with black velvet, gold trim and floral motif sequin and beadwork. Over this, she wears a cream silk apron trimmed in lace and black velvet ribbon. Underneath, she wears a fine cotton crinoline, cream cotton stockings and black leather shoes. A gold tone cross is suspended from a black velvet ribbon embellished with sequins. Scattered losses to wool at the back of skirt.
