26" early J Bébé 12 - a very pretty example with a perfect head with smooth bisque and lovely coloring. Further details include expressive brown paperweight eyes highlighted by abundant mauve shadow, lush full lashes and softly painted light brown brows, pierced ears, and an open-closed mouth. Her face is framed by a fantastic antique light brown mohair wig styled in a mass of soft ringlets and topped by a cream silk bonnet with ribbon embellishments around the face.
On a jointed composition body with the original finish in very good condition (save for normal, scattered wear) and complete with Jumeau stamp, Mademoiselle wears a remarkable couture ensemble comprised of a cream silk dress with a delicate ecru lace overlay under a fabulous coat of coral pink velvet (mellowed to a rose hue) with cream silk and lace accents. Underneath, a fine cotton petticoat and pantalettes are worn, plus a petticoat trimmed in crocheted lace. Knitted cream stockings and Jumeau shoes in her size complete the lovely package. Head incised: 12 J which bears the Joanny face.
