Stunning Danel et Cie Paris Bébé - A Boo Boo Bargain
Measuring a substantial twenty-four inches tall, this darling French child is a Paris Bébé, size 11 made by the Danel et Cie firm, circa 1890. This lovely model was the center of an 1890 copyright infringement lawsuit from the Jumeau firm; Daniel et Cie lost the case and was ultimately required to cease production of their Paris Bébé and destroy the molds for the doll…needless to say, this charming little girl is a rarity.
Details here include a beautifully modeled bisque head with classic features, including lovely coloring, but not a perfect one due to a Y-shaped hairline n the forehead. Further details include stunning blue paperweight eyes highlighted by dramatic brows, a wonderful mouth with lovely painting that includes upturned lips that suggest a smile, and pierced ears. She wears an antique mohair wig in gorgeous blonde and topped with a red woven bonnet.
On a jointed body that presents normal wear, this lucky girl wears a classic dress of red wool embellished with black ribbon trim, with a gathered bodice, bretelle style shoulders and a wide, ruffled hem. She wears antique underthings, and red leather shoes over stockings that all add up to a lovely presentation. Head Incised: PARIS BEBE TETE DEP 11
