We are pleased to offer a charming French character toddler from S.F.B.J. featuring fine character molding and vivid painting. He boasts a sweet double chin, deeply blushed cheeks with dimples, blue sleep eyes (wax loss to lids) and an open mouth with two pearly front teeth and a wobble tongue. An antique mohair wig in a nice shade of light brown is topped with a classic antique boater hat. This little one was clearly well loved and may have taken a tumble from his“Maman’s” arms at some point - there is a nicely repaired hairline to the left side of the head which runs from the top of left ear to the top of crown.
On a chunky, jointed, toddler body that presents age-related wear, particularly to right hand as well as areas of composition cracking and loss throughout body, this well-dressed tot is ready for an outing in a classic two-piece costume of cream cotton pique. The ensemble features an all in one with britches (top of all-in-one of satin finish cotton may have been sewn on in a more modern era) and a double breasted jacket with a wide sailor collar of eyelet lace, lace pockets, lace trim and mother of pearl buttons. Black leather child’s shoes with white leather details and ribbon closures complete his charming presentation.
