Alt, Beck and Gottschalk 639 Turned Shoulderhead
Alt, Beck and Gottschalk 639 Turned Shoulderhead
We are pleased to offer a German bisque turned-shoulderhead child who we attribute to the Alt, Beck and Gottschalk firm. Details of this sensitive child include a perfect closed dome bisque head with delicate coloring and painting, plus expressive set amber brown paperweight eyes. Her face is framed by a very flattering antique blonde mohair wig that falls to her shoulders in soft curls and is adorned with a picot edge aqua silk bow.
On a cloth body which is fitted with leather arms, she wears a dress in fine white cotton with rows of tucks at the bodice, a wide hem of heavily embroidered eyelet lace and a picot edge aqua silk sash. Underneath, she wears matching pantalettes and a half slip with lavish botanical motif embroidery plus a wool petticoat. Silky aqua stockings and brown leather Keystone shoes with a low heel complete her presentation. (Loss to one leather and soft metal rosette). Stockings present scattered holes and front skirt of dress has a mended area. A marvelous child with boundless appeal.
