Stockinette Bécassine
Stockinette Bécassine
From the pages of the famed French girl’s magazine La Semaine De Suzette (published 1905-1960) comes the beloved character “Bécassine.” Her stockinette face features a needle-molded nose and painted features and is framed by a white cotton cap. (Some foxing to cap fabric.) Her arms are also in stockinette with stitched fingers, while her legs are yarn wrapped to depict her striped stockings. She wears a green wool dress embellished in narrow, black velvet ribbon, and a white cotton apron. Underneath, she wears a red and white gingham petticoat and lace trimmed pantaloons. Her clog style shoes are crafted of brown felt. She holds a red gingham kerchief in her hands. A wonderful size to display with your Bleuettes!
