Wendy Darling, the iconic heroine of J.M. Barrie’s beloved 1911 book, Peter Pan, is masterfully rendered here in fine felt by esteemed doll artisan, Maggie Iacono. Wendy features a swivel neck and arms and legs that are posable at their wired base, her fingers are also wired. Her face features fine molding painting with wide set blue grey eyes, full lips in a subtle mauve hue and gently blushed cheeks. Her face is framed by a blonde mohair wig styled in a single braid. She wears a beautifully made felt gown with a ruffled hem and sleeves, applied flowers and a lace trimmed placket with tiny pearl buttons. A fine cotton shawl in periwinkle blue is worn around the shoulders. Underneath, lace trimmed pantalettes are worn and quilted blue slippers complete her presentation. Her beautifully detailed accessories include a wooden gold-painted star shaped wand and a decorative book entitled “Peter and Wendy.” Sole of left slipper signed: M. Iacono. Original box is included.
