We are pleased to offer a Turner Sisters folk art peddler woman. Details include a character face of carved and painted wood with deep blushing, painted-blue eyes and an open mouth with a hinged lower jaw with a row of tiny teeth. Her body features a wired armature, stuffed and covered in cloth, while her articulated hands are finished in finely “wrapped” papier-mâché with a smooth finish. Her head features carved and painted light brown hair as well as a layer of auburn mohair and is topped with a straw hat. She wears a long sleeved calico dress in a palette of cream and indigo blue under a tea dyed apron. She carries a bundle of red and white gingham. She wears cotton underthings and brown leather boots over knitted cream stockings.
