We are pleased to offer a Turner Sisters folk art peddler woman. Details include a character face of carved and painted wood with painted-black eyes with wire spectacles and an auburn mohair wig. Her open mouth is carved in a charming smile with a row of tiny teeth.
Her body features a wired armature, stuffed and covered in cloth, while her articulated hands are finished in a “wrapped” style papier-mâché. She wears a quilted black satin bonnet, a black felt cloak, black felt skirt, a paisley blouse and a turkey red calico kerchief. She carries assorted colorful cloth pouches and a green sack. She wears cotton underthings and black leather shoes.
