This seasoned entertainer is looking to take his act on the road! This incredible life-sized ventriloquist figure, deaccessioned from a puppetry museum, features wonderful character features with deeply blushed cheeks, fixed blue glass eyes, vivid red lips, character teeth and a jointed lower jaw. His wood and papier-mâché head is in very nice condition save for minor, scattered wear and a rub to the tip of the nose and left eyebrow.
He wears a vintage black derby hat with a layer of mohair adhered to the interior crown. His head is mounted on a handle which is accessible through his open back and allows manual operation of his jaw and the ability to turn his head from side to side. His upper torso features a finely crafted wooden armature, and includes a padded cotton front and shoulders. His firmly stuffed cotton arms terminate in articulated wood and papier-mâché hands in beautiful condition. His lower body is of firmly stuffed cotton with weighted upper thighs and hinge sewn joints (all cotton elements of the body are in exceptionally clean condition).
He has been wonderfully re-costumed with a mix of vintage and modern pieces including khaki pants, a blue polished cotton shirt and a fringed suede vest. A pair of vintage, two toned leather oxfords over argyle socks complete his charming presentation. An incredible piece that would bring endless charm to the doll room or puppet theater!
