Milly's Miniatures "Cinderella"
Milly's Miniatures "Cinderella"
The beloved dolls of Milly’s Miniatures were created by Mildred "Milly" Davis (1900–1973) of Greenfield, Indiana. These charming figures were originally sold in the gift shop of the Riley House, birthplace of children’s poet, James Whitcomb Riley (1849-1916), with many of the characters derived from his poetry.
“Cinderella” is rendered in needle sculpted cotton with a nicely embroidered and hand painted face with a head of golden yarn topped with a pink satin princess hat. On a cotton body with a wired armature, she wears a dress featuring a pink satin bodice with puffed tulle sleeves and a tiered tulle skirt with silver glitter details. She remains in nice condition save for a neck that is slightly loose and scattered discoloration to tulle of dress.
She is attached to a replacement cardstock base that is hand inscribed: Milly’s Miniatures, Cinderella
Measures: 3” tall
