Milly's Miniatures “Our Impetuous Resolve”
Milly's Miniatures “Our Impetuous Resolve”
The beloved dolls of Milly’s Miniatures were created by Mildred "Milly" Davis (1900–1973) of Greenfield, Indiana. These charming figures were originally sold in the gift shop of the Riley House, birthplace of children’s poet, James Whitcomb Riley (1849-1916), with many of the characters derived from his poetry.
“Our Impetuous Resolve” features a darling young baker in needle sculpted cotton with a nicely embroidered and hand painted face with a head of golden blonde yarn hair topped with a baker’s hat. On a body comprised of cotton over a wired armature, he wears a white apron over a chambray shirt and blue cotton pants. He holds a pie. He is attached to a cardstock base that reads: Milly’s Miniatures From the Birthplace of James Whitcomb Riley “Our Impetuous Resolve”
