Milly's Miniatures “Griggsby’s Station”

$145.00

The beloved dolls of Milly’s Miniatures were created by Mildred "Milly" Davis (1900–1973) of Greenfield, Indiana. These charming figures were originally sold in the gift shop of the Riley House, birthplace of children’s poet, James Whitcomb Riley (1849-1916), with many of the characters derived from his poetry.

“Griggsby’s Station” features a little girl rendered in needle sculpted cotton with an embroidered and hand painted face and a head of auburn yarn hair topped with a straw hat. On a body comprised of cotton over a wired armature, she wears a red calico dress and carries a suitcase and a pouch style hand bag. She is attached to a cardstock base that reads: Milly’s Miniatures From the Birthplace of James Whitcomb Riley “Griggsby’s Station”
